Dear Friends:
PAFCO needs your renewed support NOW! Please make your financial contribution so we can enter the 2008 legislative session united to stop budget cuts. Our coordinated actions stopped draconian cuts in the past. We must act together again to protect people who may be poor and vulnerable and without a voice.
During the 2008 state legislative session, we will be fighting cuts to health and human services. The state budget revenue shortfalls pose significant new threats to health and human services funding and current estimates are that the state budget could be $800 million short. Legislators are already suggesting cuts come from current health and human services programs. Many observers think the session could be brutal because of the different approaches to state revenue shortfalls.
As you know, with your support PAFCO has:
- Helped stop $1 billion of proposed cuts to health and human service funding over the last seven years.
- Helped secure new funding for Child Protective Services
- Helped restore funding for child care and end the waiting list.
- Trained 3,000 individuals for civic participation
- Reached 12,000 Arizonan's via action-oriented emails
We need your support now to protect health and human services funding and ensure vulnerable populations are not pitted against one another. We will also actively promote new and needed funding for critical services, particularly workforce issues. Additionally, PAFCO will publish a new public policy booklet to stimulate new solutions to long standing health and human services needs.
You have helped us build a strong, respected presence in the halls of the legislature. Our citizen advocacy training, statewide information network for human service and citizen advocates, legislative alerts and actions, and our persistent presence at the legislature have all made PAFCO a critical voice on behalf of vulnerable members in our community.
Please renew your membership today so we may continue with our work together for the 2008 legislative session. Please complete the form below and return with your membership payment to the designated address. Our united work will be more critical than ever in this coming year of potential cuts.
Thank you so much for your continued support and advocacy for poor and vulnerable populations in Arizona's many children, families and other vulnerable individuals are counting on us.
Sincerely,
PAFCO Boards
